A Plastic cooking spoon was forgotten on a hot stove in Brentwood Ca. The home owner did not realize that the plastic had caused a fire because the batteries from the fire alarm had not been replaced.

Thankfully a vigilant neighbor saw some smoke and from the door crack and called the emergency services to help.

As the warmer month draw closer, we advice that all fire alarm systems be checked to ensure they are working correctly.

Fire alarm systems help notify occupants of a fire emergency and in most cases can notify the local fire department.

Most importantly, fire alarm system inspection, testing and maintenance need to be carried out as required because they can also be compromised by dirt or vandalism.
